If I Were Grown

We fell in love in our youth you could call it adolescent
It was our first real dance and we failed like amateurs
Now it’s all over as we wasted all our chances
We both had different needs and they could never be met with our current circumstances
I hate we ended so sour as you were my true lover
Our souls really bonded a chemistry like non other.
I wonder though if we could reignite our forever when we have grown
If I were grown would I be able to give you all the time and love you wanted
Would I be easier to understand so that my love will never get lost in translation
If you were grown would you be able to love yourself and know you are capable of anything
Would you feel my love even when I am away in the distance and never doubt it for an instance
We will never know until we grow
