What Made Me Stay

What made me stay when I knew I needed to leave; Fear.
I never had this bond before and I wanted so much to keep it and maintain it.
I thought in conquering love and not running away I would prove my worth.
I feared being a liar as our forever would be over which is the same as killing a dream.
I knew I needed to stand alone that this attachment was a sweet poison.
Acting on love i lost reason; reason is what made me leave.
What remained however was the imprint of our time together and of course fear.
